The American Institute of Architects is the largest professional association of design professionals in the United States. Founded in 1857, the institute has a long and proud history of representing America’s architects and the interests of the profession.

The new logo for AIA is accompanied by an exclusive typeface named Architype designed in collaboration with Jeremy Mickel at MCKL. The identity is being applied by the tireless AIA staff, from the national office in Washington D.C. right down to grassroot chapters all across the country.

The new typeface by Jeremy Mickel draws inspiration from the post and lintel system of constuction.
